What is a MAF Sensor?Ī mass air flow (MAF) sensor is a car part that measures the quantity of air mass flow into an engine’s inlet. There are a few symptoms to identify a bad MAF sensor and replace it in time. However, with time and usage, these sensors might degrade. To achieve that, several sensors are assembled including fuel injectors, camshaft position sensors and mass air fuel sensors or MAF. I don't know if it is true, but I read somewhere that the Frontiers are sensitive to which MAF they use. I installed with battery terminals off, and the light went off only to come back on in a month.
What showed up was a generic part in a plain white box.
Bought a cheapie MAF off eBay that was supposed to be an "OEM version" with Nissan markings all over the box in the photo on the listing. Cleaned the MAF and it was good for a while and the code started appearing again along with the truck running rough. A few months back mine, with about the same miles, started popping the P0101 code.
